Been awhile seen I posted anything in this blog. To bee more specific it's been almost 2 years. Hehehehe. Will be posting new photos. Maybe tomorrow.

As for stuff that happened while I wasn't posting. Well this past January 22 I've started working at Globalflex Corporation. Been through most of the departments. My official designation is Management Trainee. Been learning the ropes of the business. Hopefully I'll be able to master everything by the time I'm through with my training.

Got my self my very first credit card too. Citibank Visa. It's got around a 30thou limit. Got to replace my ld N80 (which got stolen by the way) with an N73. Round December or January I plan to use it to get a laptop. The 13th month pay will also help.

Nina and I are not an item anymore. Been single for 5 months, I think. There are a lot of girls lined up and applying (you know submitting resumes and stuff ;-D) to be my one-and-only-true love-for-life but I'm letting the line get a little longer just for a little more time. Hehehe.

Been a while since I posted. Dats because I've been really busy d past few months. Setting up 2 businesses. A water purifier dealership and a wholesaling business. My partners are neighbours of ours here in GreenPark. The business are still on the beginning stages but they're doing fairly well. I currently have a "barbecuehan" here in our village. My first venture into entrepreneurship. So far it's doing quiete well. It earns round 150pesos a day. Not even minimum wage, I know. But it's a start.

Also recently read Robert Kiyosaki's book "Retire Rich, Retire Young". Very informative and interesting read.

Hope you guys could visit my "barbecuehan" some time. We have isaw(chicken intestine, you foreigners reading this must eb shocked eh!), dugo/betamax(coagulated pig's blood, yes Joe Filipinos actually eat this stuff), pork barbecue(finally something normal), balat(pig's skin), etc.

For you adventure seekers this is the type of food you should be trying. Hehehe.

Recently the country has been under a crisis. Actually it still is. With the Gloriagate scandal, the Jueteng Lord scandal,etc. The country can't seem to recover from all of the tragedies befalling it. Our economy is in a shambles (investors won't invest in a country beleaguered by political turmouil. What can we do? Tito Frank Padilla from the CFC has something to say about it. Posted below is his statement. Something to think about.

STATEMENT ON CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION FROM THE CFC COUNCIL

July 1, 2005

Our dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

May the peace of our Lord Jesus, who is always more than enough, be with you all!

Once again our nation faces difficult challenges. The current political situation is very muddled. With many conflicting voices, we do not know whom to believe. Many do not know what next is proper to do. The burning issue is the so-called Gloriagate tapes and the President's recent admission and apology.

At all times, especially in times of confusion and uncertainty, we turn to Jesus. What would Jesus do?

In the Bible, there is another penitent woman. She was caught in adultery. The scribes and Pharisees wanted to stone her. Jesus said, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." (Jn 8:7). In our situation, many of those who are crying out for the President's blood are those who themselves have engaged in questionable and even illegal political activities, including cheating at elections. We need to see who are on the other side. What we see are discredited politicians, Marcos and Erap loyalists, militant leftists, and the like.

Then Jesus said to the woman, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin any more." (Jn 8:11). This is our posture towards the President. We are not condemning her, but if she indeed did wrong, we expect her to sin no more.

Some say the President is not sincerely penitent. We are admonished by Jesus, "Stop judging, that you may not be judged." (Mt 7:1).

Some say that now that she admitted wrongdoing she should do penance and thus resign. We leave it to her conscience to decide of she would indeed resign. But should she make amends? Yes. But even for us, penance is positive and not negative. For our penance we are not told to flagellate ourselves, but we are told to say 3 Hail Marys and that is a wonderful thing. So for our President, her penance need not be the bitter pill of resignation. but rather for her to work at good governance. This she has pledged. She has even shown determination in "exiling" her husband and will possibly revamp her Cabinet. We hope that with what has happened, the President will now have the resolve to do what needs to be done for our nation.

These are critical times in the life of our nation. With the doubling of oil prices and the implementation of the expanded VAT, the seed for greater discontent and anger has been planted. The potential for chaos is tremendous. The threat of disintegration is very real. Filipinos must be cautious and discerning in their next moves.

What then should we as CFC do?

First, we stick to the constitutional processes. While extra-constitutional ousting of a President through people power is justified at times, such as in EDSA I and EDSA II, this is not such a time. If the President remains in office, we should support her. If she resigns, we should rally behind her constitutional successor.

Second, we must pray. Our country is loved by God and is destined to be His light to the world. God will not abandon us. And in the midst of all our trials and tribulations, God is more than enough. We must not take matters into our own hands, but trust in the God in whose hands we are held.

Third, we must intensify our work of building communities among the poor, with the corollary of nation building. This grassroots approach is ultimately the only way to true political renewal, and to justice and peace of mind in our land.

Nothing much happened today. I went to Slimmers in the afternoon to work out. I went with my mom. After that we went to Tropical to buy some "pandesal" for the Music Ministry Practice at our house. After getting home I went to Raquel's Family's Store to hang out for awhile. I finally got back the mobile phone I lent to Mhel. That's my second phone. It uses a Sun Sim so I can make unlimited calls and sms messages to other Sun Mobile users. That's where I met Jay-R. Khey asked him to go to the Music Ministry practice. Bajo dropped in after awhile. We all went to my house for the practice. There we found Ime, Edward, and Romy waiting. The practice went on for around two hours. Jeff, Weng and Fernan also came. After the practice Jay-R and I went to the local computer rental place and played some StarCraft. I got my ass kicked, predictably. Khey came by after our first game and he helped me fend off Jay-R's horde. With him was Lala, his girlfriend and my bestfriend. I was playing with a Protoss race, by the way in case you wanted to know. Darwin came by after a few minutes from there household meeting and he and Khey played against each other. I went home after that. I watched some TV and ate some of the bread-stuff that my mom and I bought earlier. And after awhile I'm here on the PC. Pretty uneventful day, huh. Be going to sleep in awhile.

Hello brothers. For both SFC and YFC, they have adopted a battle cry of "150 in 1." That is, they want to bring SFC and YFC to 150 countries within one year. This is in line with our thrust in CFC of being in
over 150 countries by the year 2006, our 25th anniversary. Thus they want to be in all the countries where we CFC are established. As of end of 2004, SFC is in 95 countries while YFC is in 70 countries.

Judging from the recently concluded Int'l Leaders Conferences (SFC in February and YFC this weekend), our young brethren are abounding in zeal, are passionate, and are committed to accomplishing what they believe God is telling them to do. This is pure grace. This is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit at work, raising up the next generation and already involving them deeply in our massive work of renewal and mission.

Brothers, we must respond to this outpouring of the Spirit. If SFC/YFC is already established in your country, let us move to expand and strengthen it. If SFC/YFC is not yet established in your country, then let us set it up! The Family Ministries are crucial for us to have a wholistic family life renewal program. And for the future of our work, the singles and youth are especially crucial. If any of our family ministries is lacking, then we are not complete! Let us give this the attention and emphasis that God intends.

You may take the initiative in this. You may get in touch with us and we can arrange to send a mission team to help you. On the other hand, our singles and youth will also be in touch with you, as they pursue
and be true to their calling. Please do not disappoint them, and in doing so, disappoint the Lord. Work out together how we can effectively establish SFC/YFC in your country.

My full name is Michael Francis Villafranca Medina. I was born on May 18, 1979 in Quezon City. I forgot what the name of the hospital I was born in was. I'm 25 years old and I live in 104... I think I better not give away my address for obvious reasons. What else...

I'm currently a household head in the Singles for Christ community and I've been in this community for almost six years.

I'm an alumni of LaSalle Greenhills and I also spent sometime in DeLaSalle University. I am currently a fourth year college student in AMA-East Rizal.

I have one sister who is younger then me. Her name is Clarissa.

What else...

I read varying types of books. I could be reading an Inspirational book one day and burying myself in a epic-fantasy book the other. I'm an avid fan of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I've read every book in the series. And considering that each book averages around 900 pages, that's no small feat. I've also read The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. Really nice book. I recommend you to read it. I've also read and finished various books by Bo Sanchez. He's a really funny and intuitive writer. I think many Catholics and Christian would benefit from reading his books. Even non-Christians would profit from taking a look in his writings.

Violence and Suffering in Sudan's Darfur Region

The Crisis in Darfur
A preventable humanitarian crisis, affecting more than two million people, is raging in the Darfur region of western Sudan. Not since the Rwanda genocide of 1994 has the world seen such a calculated campaign of slaughter, rape, starvation and displacement. Government-backed militias, known collectively as the Janjaweed, are systematically eliminating entire communities of African tribal farmers. Villages are being razed, women and girls raped and branded, men and boys murdered, and food and water supplies targeted and destroyed. Victims report that government air strikes frequently precede militia raids.

According to the findings of the United Nations Commission of Inquiry, January 25, 2005,

"government forces and militias conducted indiscriminate attacks, including killing of civilians, torture, enforced disappearances, destruction of villages, rape and other forms of sexual violence, pillaging and forced displacement, throughout Darfur. These acts were conducted on a widespread and systematic basis ... The vast majority of the victims of all of these violations have been from the Fur, Zaghawa, Massalit, Jebel, Aranga and other so-called 'African' tribes."

The effects of this ethnic cleansing campaign have been devastating. It is estimated that at least 200,000 people have died. More than 1.6 million people have been displaced from their homes and over 200,000 have fled across the border to Chad. Many now live in camps lacking adequate food, shelter, sanitation, and health care. Women and girls who leave the camps to gather much needed firewood risk being attacked and raped by Janjaweed patrolling the countryside.

The Sudanese government continues to flout international law with impunity. They have made no progress in disarming or prosecuting the Janjaweed; Sudanese police forces have attacked displacement camps and forcibly relocated people; there have been recent reports of bombing in violation of agreements the government has signed.

In recent months, the situation has deteriorated significantly. Fighting has escalated and several relief organizations, unable to protect their workers, have pulled out of the region. If the violence continues and people do not receive adequate aid and protection, many more Darfurians will die.

Why Bo Sanchez Loves the Pope

WHY I LOVE THIS POPE

As a way of mourning for his death, I won’t be answering questions today.

The Pope isn’t the CEO of an organization, but our spiritual father.

And so we, his children, mourn.

In the past days, I’m sure you’ve read lots of stuff about what the Pope has done—his accomplishment, his legacy…

But I’d like to write my own list and tell you why I love this Pope…

He asked for forgiveness
This tops my list. My knowledge of church history is rusty, but I can’t recall any other Pontiff asking forgiveness the way he did for the sins of the Church to humanity. I believe that a leader must be humble—and broken—or else he cannot serve well.
He reached out towards past “enemies”
For two thousand years, there had been bloody wars and persecution between Catholics and Jews, and between Catholics and Muslims.
So what did this Pope do? He was the first Pope to pray before the Wailing Wall of the Jews in Jerusalem. And he also was the first Pope to step into a mosque, and visit twenty Muslim countries in his pontificate.
He went out of his way to meet people.
He didn’t wait in Rome for the people to come to him—as the past Popes have done. Instead, he had 104 pastoral visits across the globe.
He took the side of the poor.
He urged the rich nations to forgive the debt of poor nations. He also urged a more humane globalization—and rejected the aggressive globalization espoused by the West.
He said “no” to the Iraq war.
He took a tough stand. Through a special envoy, he told President Bush that the war cannot be justified legally or morally. He basically told him that if he invaded Iraq, God won’t be on his side.
He championed human rights—including those of the unborn
The Pope stood his ground and fought the culture of death in every front. He didn’t flinch in his belief in the sanctity of life—from conception to natural death.
He served amidst his own suffering.
Aside from the burden of being Pope over a billion Catholics, he had serious health problems. Aside from an assassination attempt that weakened him, he also suffered Parkinson’s disease. Yet he continued to serve to the very end.

I could go on and on, because he was one of the greatest men who ever lived in recent times. But all the praise in the world won’t mean a thing to him.

The Pope stood his ground and fought the culture of death in every front. He didn’t flinch in his belief in the sanctity of life—from conception to natural death.

He served amidst his own suffering.
Aside from the burden of being Pope over a billion Catholics, he had serious health problems. Aside from an assassination attempt that weakened him, he also suffered Parkinson’s disease. Yet he continued to serve to the very end.

Musings on Love

What is love for me? Love for me is a commitment. For me you can't say your really in love with somebody unless you can give your full commitment to him or her. Maybe that's why some relationships end. Maybe love for them is only the feeling they get. But don't feelings change. You may feel so "kilig" at one point in a relationship, but what if that ends. Or what if it grows softer. What will be the foundation of the relationship then? One good foundation of a loving relationship is, for me, commitment. Sure, maybe you'll get angry at your partner. There'll probably be times when that previously oh so cute face just seems to be better of a dartboard. But if you have commitment. If you can say to your self, "I will love this person no matter what." No ifs. No buts. No because. Then you have the makings of a stable, long-lasting, loving relationship.

I myself am waiting for the "girl of my aspirations" to come into my life. That's the trouble with me. I constantly want that "feeling" of being in love. Don't get me wrong. I want to commit myself to somebody. It's just that, I want the constant feeling you get when you are caring and loving (note: action word) a person. I hope she would come one day soon. I hope my next girlfriend would be the One. Maybe God's preparing me for her and her for me. I just hope and pray, God would give her to me soon.

My idol Superman in his "Superman: Birthright" get up. If ever I want to be a superhero this guy's the superhero I want to be. But JC's still the guy to beat. Let me rephrase what I said earlier. If I want to be a superhero I'd be a hero with Superman's powers and I'd be Christ-centered. I'm such a good boy.

Hi guys and gals! It's 4am and I'm still awake. Let's see...

I had a meeting with Darwin, Ime and some other members of SFC:GreenPark/Santolan/Christineville earlier. We tackled the advertising stuff we had to do for the Christian Life Program this coming April 15 at the Sto. Nino Church.

After the meeting I fetched Mary Jane at Ate Tessa's house then we "made hatid" Ate Nhel at her house in Caloocan. We ate at a nearby "carinderia" there. I had "giniling" w/ egg and "tapsilog". We then watched the ending of this certain Soap Opera at ate Nhel's house. We got to see several pictures of ate Nhel and her twin when they were little. After that I dropped off Jane at her house, then I dropped off Ernan and Ruel who were with us.

When I got home I watched "The Manchurian Candidate" on our DVD. After that...

I'm here typing on the computer. Hehehehe.

I'm also chatting with Ezra, my bestfriend Richie's girlfriend.
